Chapter 8

All the Brothers will be required to always have one of this Religion as the General Minister and Servant of the entire Order, and they will also be obliged to obey him constantly.

When he dies, the Provincial Ministers and the Custodes will elect a successor at the Pentecost Chapter, where they will always be required to assemble, wherever it may have been convened by the General Minister: this will be done once every three years, or more or less often, as he shall determine.

Now, if after some time, all the Provincial Ministers and Custodes notice that the General Minister is not suitable for the service and the common good of the Brothers, they will be obliged, since they have been given the power to make the election, to elect another in the name of Our Lord, to maintain the Order.

After the Pentecost Chapter, the Provincial Ministers and Custodes may, in the same year, each within their Provinces, if they wish and deem it appropriate, summon their Brothers to a Chapter.
